Is it NORMAL for a lay Catholic to have a bishop who takes the way in which Jesus reveals himself throughout the Gospel, as he announces the coming of the Kingdom of God, and turns it into a top-secret mission whose clearance may only be granted to the elite who have a “need-to-know” the “behind closed doors” information, and who have unescorted access to the Diocesan Pastoral Center whenever necessary?

Today is the 7th day since the solemn opening in Rome of the 2021-2023 Synod entitled “For a Synodal Church: Communion, Participation, and Mission” . There are 3 days until the Diocese of Amarillo is expected to open the process on the 17th of October; however Bishop Zurek seems to think that this synod will be done as a solo, perhaps so he can have reason to boast about all the good works he has done. ..
…His Excellency is not turning to Jesus, the absolute protagonist who takes the initiative, sowing the words and signs of the coming of the Kingdom without “showing partiality” (cf. Acts 10:34)...
Now that I have finished part of my experience with this “the few” I
need to address you who are not part of them.

…”the few“, who are “separated” from God and “abandoned” by the community (the sinners and the poor, in gospel language), who Jesus pays special attention to because they have put their hope in Him; will certainly not be given top-secret clearance to this synod…
…Through his words and actions, Jesus offers liberation from evil and conversion to hope, in the name of God the Father and in the power of the Holy Spirit to those ., like “the few“, who frequently remain on the fringes…
…Until Bishop Zurek stops using the leaven of hypocrisy, frequently found among priests and bishops, he will never recognizes the diversity of the Lord’s calls, it’s receptive responses, the common trait that faith always emerges as a valuing of people. “the few” are not afraid because their plea is heard, their difficulty is helped, their availability is appreciated, their dignity is confirmed by God’s gaze and restored to the community’s recognition.
