It’s Punny You Should Ask

You sheltered me from harm
Kept me warm, kept me warm
You gave my life to me
Set me free, set me free

Both Pope Francis and Bishop Zurek have asked me to “journey together” with them in the 2023 Synod…

“Certainly!”

“It’s the ‘yeast‘ I can ‘dough‘!”

“They can ‘batch‘ their lives that I will ‘mustard‘ up the courage, and won’t be ‘leaven‘ their side until we’ve spread the ‘margarine‘ of the Church with the Gospel and have ‘seedthe birds of the sky dwelt in it’s branches

…somebody stop me, I’m in a roll!

The Diocese of Amarillo is convoked in Synod! The path entitled “For a Synodal Church: Communion, Participation, and Mission” solemnly opened 2 days ago at St. Mary’s Cathedral during the 9:30 Mass.

We consider that the sufferings of this present time are as nothing compared with the glory to be revealed for us as we undertake this “journey together“. We may go forth weeping,
carrying the seed to be sown, but we shall come back rejoicing, carrying our sheaves. May we “journey together” with all the little ones of the human family as the Father reveals to us the mysteries of the Kingdom.

These are the some of the current signs of the “serious mistake” we need to be set free of:

An expectation for the Respect Life Mass and Walk has been set months in advance as it should be, however no such expectation existed in the Amarillo Diocese for the expected opening celebration for Synod 2021-2023 on October 17 of this year, or the delayed opening on October 24th.
The Diocesan Calendar is set for several months in advance, but the 2021-2023 Synod is still not on it.
The 2021-2023 Synod is still not important enough to place on the diocesan news page.

IV. Synodality in Action: Pathways for Consulting the People of God

Different Articulations of Synodality

29. The second perspective considers how the People of God journeys together with the entire human family. Thus, our gaze will focus on the state of relations, dialogue, and possible common initiatives with believers of other religions, with people who are distant from the faith, as well as with specific social environments and groups, with their institutions (the world of politics, culture, economics, finance, labor, trade unions, and business associations, non-governmental and civil society organizations, popular movements, minorities of various kinds, the poor and the excluded, etc.).

At the opening Mass of the Holy Roman Synod Bishop Zurek expressed his desire that we pray this prayer often as we journey together in synodality.

The last tweet sent by the Diocese of Amarillo almost two years ago, prior to Bishop Zurek stating in A Reflection on Christian Life, “Another concern is in the form of a question: why is it that everyone seems to believe everything that appears on a social media page, and worse, may pass it on as truth.”

It’s another current sign of the “serious mistake” that Bishop Zurek doesn’t use social media more effectively.
He’s toast but at yeast he’s in a batter place!
