There ain’t nobody knows
Jesus synodality went up to the mountain to pray,
and he spent the night in prayer to God.
When day came, he called his disciples with whom he was “journeying together” to himself,
and from them he chose Twelve, whom he also named Apostles or bishops (whose vocation it is to call sinners to repentance, to heal those who were sick whether in body or spirit, to seek in all their dealings never to do their own will but the will of him who sent them, and as far as possible to save the world by their teaching) :
Simon (Pope Francis), whom he named Peter, and his brother Andrew,
James (Bishop Patrick James Zurek), John, Philip, Bartholomew, Matthew,
Thomas, James the son of Alphaeus,
Simon who was called a Zealot,
and Judas (Jude) the son (brother?) of James (Bishop Patrick J. Zurek),
and Judas Iscariot, who became a traitor of “lived synodality.”
The Diocese of Amarillo is convoked in Synod! The path entitled “For a Synodal Church: Communion, Participation, and Mission” solemnly opened 4 days ago at St. Mary’s Cathedral during the 9:30 Mass.
We are no longer strangers and sojourners as we undertake this synodal “journey together“. Our message goes out through all the earth as the glorious company of Apostles praise you. In the Church and in society, we are side by side on the same road; that is until we are gradually and secretly betrayed by the current signs of the “serious mistake“; which the Lord, when he comes, will light up with all that is hidden in the dark as he reveals the secret intentions of the traitor’s heart!
These are the some of the current signs of the “serious mistake” that reveal that there are those among us who are traitors:
- No mention of the 2023 Synod has been put on the Diocesan calendar.
- No stories about the 2023 Synod have appeared in the Diocesan News.
- Bishop Zurek’s expectations for a Red, Te Deum and Respect Life Masses were broadcasted on radio, set in print and posted on social media, but God’s expectation and Pope Francis’s invitation for the Synod have not been put forth anywhere but at the opening Mass.
- A building dedicated to a bishop who admitted John Salazar[3] (who raised the dedication) and Ed Graff.[4] Both of these priests were known to be serious sexual abusers and Matthiesen was warned not to assign them to parishes by other Church officials.

I. THE JOURNEYING COMPANIONS
In the Church and in society, we are side by side on the same road. In your local Church, who are the ones “journeying together”? When we say: “our Church,” who is part of it? Who is asking us to journey together? Who are the road companions, including those outside the ecclesial perimeter? What persons or groups are left on the margins, expressly or in fact?
It’s another current sign of the “serious mistake” that Bishop Zurek doesn’t use social media more effectively.
