Resistance and confusion
6. In recent years, some have chosen to deride these facts. They bring up allegedly solid scientific data, like the fact that the planet has always had, and will have, periods of cooling and warming. They forget to mention another relevant datum: that what we are presently experiencing is an unusual acceleration of warming, at such a speed that it will take only one generation – not centuries or millennia – in order to verify it. The rise in the sea level and the melting of glaciers can be easily perceived by an individual in his or her lifetime, and probably in a few years many populations will have to move their homes because of these facts.

…and on the 6th day of Synod 2023 and my reading of Laudate Deum , I’m asking…
… neighbors, probably in a few years, will have to move their homes because of the climate crisis, yet isn’t MAGA urging me to lift up my hands irreverently in anger and argument by deriding these facts and Pope Francis while it goes on discovering a number of weeks or months after conception it can keep voters happy and liking it for aborting innocents for political gain…

… but, how can I do such things as denying the unusual acceleration of global warming and using the violence of abortion to shed innocent blood just so MAGA can move back into the White House without my meeting with misfortune…

…for are not the innocents crying out for help from the midst of the nether world, and are not the breakers and billows of MAGA passing over Pope Francis, and would I not be risking banishment from the LORD’s sight if I try to hinder Him from rescuing them from the pit…

…so, just for today at least, when I see MAGA victimizing: innocents in the womb; Pope Francis and the marginalized at the Synod; or populations affected by the global climate crisis; instead of justifying MAGA and passing on by, will I rather stop and treat my neighbor with mercy❓
When we fail to acknowledge as part of reality the worth of a poor person, a human embryo, a person with disabilities – to offer just a few examples – it becomes difficult to hear the cry of nature itself; everything is connected.
