Memorial of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of the Church

“Then he said to the disciple,
            “Behold, your mother.”,…”

Could it be that I perceive my Mother shedding tears over Bishop Zurek’s governing with clericalism at St. Mary’s Catholic Cathedral – Amarillo, TX by which he first exceeds his service and mistreats the people of God by having both people and sacraments canceled and then shelters in his Diocesan Pastoral Bunker using his brother priests as human shields in a Hamas type fashion until they are so extensively damaged he can quietly discard of them (Msgr. Colwell) and use the United Catholic Appeal to extort money for shiny new shields; doesn’t this disfiguring of the face of the church with a machismo and dictatorial attitude cause a Mother to cry;…

Father Tony explaining how the United Catholic Appeal is not an “appeal”, but an extortion that takes a dollar from our children, youth programs, school, funeral meal program or from grief counseling at St. Mary’s Cathedral if Bishop Zurek doesn’t get his dollar for shiny new shields.

Confronted with these varied and brutal denials of human dignity, we need to be increasingly aware that “human trafficking is a crime against humanity.”

From Paragraph 42 of Declaration of the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith “Dignitas Infinita” on Human Dignity, 08.04.2024

…besides, will I ever confront other grave violations of human dignity in the world such as human trafficking if I am afraid of confronting the venial violation of clericalism, present in my own parish…

Mary, the Mother who cared for Jesus, now cares with maternal affection and pain for this wounded world.

FROM PARAGRAPH 241 of ENCYCLICAL LETTER LAUDATO SI’ OF THE HOLY FATHER FRANCIS ON CARE FOR OUR COMMON HOME

…and can I not draw hope knowing that Mary, the Mother of St. Mary’s Cathedral, now cares with maternal affection and pain for our wounded parish, and through her humility and willingness to do God’s will can keep me on the synodal path
