From Today’s Gospel Mark 10:5
On this last day of school at St. Mary’s Cathedral School, will I harden my heart to my conscience, “hide behind the appearances of religiosity and love for the Church” and divorce myself from reality by not posting about how Bishop Zurek, governing with clericalism, used this past school year to not wash the feet of, but crush under his feet at least two longtime parishioners of St. Mary’s Cathedral Parish who showed they were “faithful and loyal disciples that the Lord Jesus desires” by dedicating their lives to Catholic Education;…
…furthermore, will I dismiss Pope Francis’s exhortation to “remain vigilant towards the “spiritual worldliness” of clericalism” , and for my own personal well-being not speak out about how Bishop Zurek, as a “merchant of the spirit” “clothed in sacred forms”, acted to the “fashions of the world” by extra-ordinarily confirming someone who had recently joined the parish, yet had the inside connections to take over the Cathedral School even while saying she had dedicated her public school retirement to getting more time on the golf course;…
46. In this consideration of violence against women, one cannot condemn enough the phenomenon of femicide. On this front, the entire international community must have a coordinated and concrete commitment, as Pope Francis reiterated, “Our love for Mary must help us to feel appreciation and gratitude for women, for our mothers and grandmothers, who are a bastion in the life in our cities. Almost always in silence, they carry life forward. It is the silence and strength of hope. Thank you for your witness. […] But in thinking of our mothers and grandmothers, I want to invite you to combat a scourge that affects our American continent: the numerous cases where women are killed. …and even if I justify my keeping quiet behind my “so many walls” about the violence done to our sisters at St. Mary’s by Bishop Zurek’s clericalism by telling myself that, “I, as a lay person, do not always have all the knowledge”; while it is quite probable that the deacon, priest or bishop has a much fuller picture of what is actually happening”…
It is hard for us to accept that the way natural ecosystems work is exemplary: plants synthesize nutrients which feed herbivores; these in turn become food for carnivores, which produce significant quantities of organic waste which give rise to new generations of plants.
