“By what authority are you doing these things❓”
From Today’s Gospel, Mark 11:28
I’m certainly not under Bishop Zurek’s authority when making these posts about his governing by clericalism,…
…in fact, it was for these posts that he banned me years ago from the Confirmation, Catechetical, ACTS and Prison, ministries with which I was participating in the Diocese of Amarillo…
…When Fr. Tony became rector of St. Mary’s Cathedral he asked if I would resume preparing youth for Confirmation. I told him of the ban I was under. He replied that the ban did not apply now that he was rector. I insisted that he speak to Bishop Zurek and if his Excellency was okay with the ban being lifted I would resume the Confirmation Catechetical ministry. A few days later Fr. Tony reported back to me, “The bishop is not there yet… but I do admire your obedience to him.”…
… So, “who gave (me) this authority to do” my postings❓”…
…before Facebook I wrote letters to bishops Matthieson and Yanta…
… Bishop Matthieson enjoyed listening to me, and met with me at length on several occasions; however he didn’t agree with me, and his final response was his offering to have me ordained as a deacon; perhaps he thought if I became a cleric I would become blind to his clericalism…
…I refused his offer…
…Bishop Yanta on the other hand listened and agreed with much I had written; consequently he met with me as well and even read one of my letters at a priests’ meeting. At our last meeting as he was retiring he commissioned me to, “keep speaking out”;…
…so, was Bishop Yanta’s commission “of heavenly or of human origin❓”;
…and even if it was of human origin, doesn’t the other Bishop who has authority over me, Pope Francis, tell me over and over, “Let us, therefore, remain vigilant towards clericalism,”…
54. In a broader perspective, it must be remembered that “this charity, which is the spiritual heart of politics, is always a preferential love shown to those in greatest need; it undergirds everything we do on their behalf. […] ‘To tend those in need takes strength and tenderness, effort, and generosity in the midst of a functionalistic and privatized mindset that inexorably leads to a ‘throwaway culture’ […]. It involves taking responsibility for the present with its situations of utter marginalization and anguish, and being capable of bestowing dignity upon it.’ It will likewise inspire intense efforts to ensure that ‘everything be done to protect the status and dignity of the human person.’”
PARAGRAPH 54 of Declaration of the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith “Dignitas Infinita” on Human Dignity
… besides, if I don’t get involved taking responsibility for the present clericalism with its situations of utter marginalization and anguish, how can I expect a bishop of being capable of bestowing dignity upon it.’…
It is not helpful to confuse multilateralism with a world authority concentrated in one person or in an elite with excessive power: “When we talk about the possibility of some form of world authority regulated by law, we need not necessarily think of a personal authority”
From Paragraph 35 of APOSTOLIC EXHORTATION
LAUDATE DEUM
OF THE HOLY FATHER
FRANCIS
TO ALL PEOPLE OF GOOD WILL
ON THE CLIMATE CRISIS
… because when all authority is concentrated in one person with clericalism, doesn’t that confuse the Church as to whom the true authority is❓
