I applaud the fact that Father Tony is, “living out his specific ministerial charism in ever greater service to the varied gifts that the Spirit sows in the People of God“, by offering a class on discerning one’s “Spiritual Gifts”; but, will Bishop Zurek and Father Tony continue their practice of having people canceled if I, as one of the laity, start using a Spiritual Gift that gets in the way of their specialness or power over others;…
We lose the capacity to realize
A letter from Bishop Patrick J. Zurek to the Faith Community at St. Mary’s Cathedral, Amarillo.
“I, as a lay person, do not always have all the knowledge”; while it is quite
probable that the deacon, priest or bishop has a much fuller picture of what is
actually happening.
If I fear offending my parish priest with my spiritual gift more than I fear the LORD for not using it, what can the priest do for me in helping me discern my spiritual gifts…
…accordingly, how can I, “Seek always the face of the Lord.“, when I prefer seeking, “a form of worldliness that defiles and damages the face of the Lord’s bride,”…
…moreover, “Alleluia, alleluia”,
knowing that, “The Kingdom of God is at hand“,
and I still refuse to “repent” of hiding, “behind appearances of religiosity and even love for the Church, but in reality…seeking, instead of the glory of the Lord, human glory and personal well-being.” instead of believing “in the Gospel“, then
“Alleluia, alleluia”…
… when the Lord, tries to seize me with His power and light,
and help me to protect all life,
by preparing for a better future,
and for the coming of His Kingdom
of justice, peace, love and beauty because, “The Kingdom of heaven is at hand.“; consequently, because I’m hiding behind clericalism, will I then not be, “on hand” to be in The Kingdom of Heaven❓
