Is it NORMAL for a lay Catholic who wants to journey together with our sister diocese and the pope to be sadly left behind because the local bishop does not want to follow the Holy Father?
Today is the 2nd day of the solemn opening in Rome of the 2021-2023 Synod entitled “For a Synodal Church: Communion, Participation, and Mission” . There are 8 days until the Diocese of Amarillo is expected to open the process on the 17th of October.
Bishop Zurek accused “the few” of creating divisions at the Cathedral, but he is the one who is currently opposing the spirit of wisdom which can bring about the communion of the Diocese of Amarillo. Pope Francis and other bishops, including Bishop Robert of Lubbock, have already announced their intention to participate in the Synod, but so far our local Church is waiting to see when we will sing for joy! Even though the Holy Father wishes to know the faith of the whole Church, Bishop Zurek is standing in his way, and for that he must render an account. Even so, this Synod is for the poor in spirit, and although our bishop is putting up another current sign of the “serious mistake” by sadly walking away from the synodal process, we still know that, “All things are possible for God.”
