Put on Your Big-Bishop Pants

Oh, how you tried
To cut me down to size
Telling dirty lies to my friends
But my own father
Said “Give her up, don’t bother
The world isn’t coming to an end”.
Walk like a man
Talk like a man
Walk like a man, my son

Since, there is the “extra” actor in the synodal process, the antagonist, who brings to the scene the diabolical separation of the other three (Jesus, the diocese, and bishop); isn’t it about time Bishop Zurek girds his loins, stops pouting about how “a few” “people in the Church treat him so badly, and then does what is expected in getting our diocese into the Synod that has already started?

Not doing so will bring about the raising of another current sign of the “serious mistake” !

Today is the 11th day since the solemn opening in Rome of the 2021-2023 Synod entitled “For a Synodal Church: Communion, Participation, and Mission” . Two days ago all other dioceses of the Universal Church, through the obedience of the one, answered the call of “journeying together”. In five days Bishop Zurek will finally face the perturbing prospect of the cross, disciples who leave and mood-changing crowds, to open the process in the Diocese of Amarillo.

Just two weeks ago St. Mary’s Cathedral was given a schedule for the Homilies for the upcoming 7 weeks. No mention of Bishop Zurek opening the Synod on October 24 was made.
This video contains the most info I have received so far on the Synod. In this announcement it was stated that there would be no Homily next week due to the proclamation of the Synod being made by Bishop Zurek.
The Diocesan Calendar is set for several months in advance, but the 2021-2023 Synod is still not on it.
An expectation for the Respect Life Mass and Walk has been set months in advance as it should be, however no such expectation existed in the Amarillo Diocese for the expected opening celebration for Synod 2021-2023 on October 17 of this year, or the delayed opening on October 24th.

The insidiousness that divides—and, thus, thwarts a common path—manifests itself indifferently in the forms of religious rigor, of moral injunction that presents itself as more demanding than that of Jesus, and of the seduction of a worldly political wisdom that claims to be more effective than a discernment of spirits. Perhaps these were among the things that were delaying His Excellency in saying, “Here I am, Lord; I come to do your will“.

In order to escape the deceptions of the “fourth actor,” (Satan) continuous conversion is necessary; thus being vigilant at all times and praying that we have the strength to “journey together” is essential.

Emblematic in this regard is the episode of the centurion Cornelius (cf. Acts 10), the antecedent of that “Council” of Jerusalem (cf. Acts 15) which constitutes a crucial reference point for a synodal Church.

The Synod still Has Not Made it to the Diocesan News yet!

A crucial reference point for the Diocese of Amarillo is at hand with this synod. My prayer today is that we, along with Bishop Zurek, gird our loins and light our lamps
and be like servants who await their master’s return from a wedding, ready to open, not a week later, but immediately when he comes and knocks!

Bishop Zurek said skip us for now.

The last tweet sent by the Diocese of Amarillo almost two years ago, prior to Bishop Zurek stating in A Reflection on Christian Life, “Another concern is in the form of a question: why is it that everyone seems to believe everything that appears on a social media page, and worse, may pass it on as truth.”
