…he is not interested in the welfare of our people, but in their ruin.”…the moon reflecting the fire from the sun this morning is setting the night ablaze with light… I tend to look at fire as something that brings about ruin; but in God’s plan it is a way in which He brings about “a new earth”. Human-caused global climate change for a Catholic is simply God’s ways coming in conflict with the world’s way’s. At the final coming all creation will be reconciled with Jesus, and if I don’t want to be burned up in the process I, must examine (my life) and acknowledge the ways in which (I) have harmed God’s creation through (my) actions and (my) failure to act. (I) need to experience a conversion, or change of heart”.

I have waited, waited for the LORD, for an ecological spirituality grounded in the convictions of our faith, since the teachings of the Gospel have direct consequences for our way of thinking, feeling and living.
R. Lord, come to my aid in having an “Ecological Conversion”!
The LORD heard my cry. He drew me out of the pit of destruction; from the excuse of realism and pragmatism which tends to ridicule expressions of concern for the environment; or passiveness, which chooses not to change habits and thus become inconsistent.
R. Lord, come to my aid in having an “Ecological Conversion”!
And he put a new song into my mouth, and now I realize that a healthy relationship with creation is one dimension of overall personal conversion, which entails the recognition of our errors, sins, faults and failures, and leads to heartfelt repentance and desire to change. Many shall look on in awe at the union of skills and a unity of achievement that can only grow from… a community conversion.

Though I am afflicted and poor, By developing our individual, God-given capacities, an ecological conversion can inspire us to greater creativity and enthusiasm in resolving the world’s problems and in offering ourselves to God “as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable” You are my help and my deliverer; You created the world, writing into it an order and a dynamism that human beings have no right to ignore.

let us rid ourselves of every burden and sin that clings to us* and persevere in running the race that lies before us…Christians should regard their own sufferings (extreme heat, drought, wildfires…) as the affectionate correction of the Lord, who loves them as a father loves his children.
All these died in faith. They did not receive what had been promised but saw it and greeted it from afar and acknowledged themselves to be strangers and aliens on earth,…unlike the bishops that preceded and followed, Bishop Yanta was a stranger and alien in the Diocese of Amarillo who never received a naming of a building in his honor…

My sheep hear my voice, says the Lord;
I know them, and they follow me; but Bishop Zurek, can the Amarillo Diocese be following the Lord if we are constantly praying for relief of the effects of human caused climate change, such as the lack of rain, without undergoing an ecological conversion?
