Memorial of Saint John Chrysostom, Bishop and Doctor of the Church|Woe

Trouble is coming to the man who grossly exploits others for the sake of his House,
to fix his nest on high
and so evade the hand of misfortune.

From Today’s Office First Reading Habakkuk 2:5-20

St. John Chrysostom incurred the displeasure of the Emperor and was twice forced into exile. When the second exile, to Armenia, had lasted three years, it was decided that he should be sent still further away, but he died on the journey, worn out by his hardships.

If God wants something, let it be done!

From Today’s Office Second Reading A sermon by St John Chrysostom

Reading 1

By retaining the message of the gospel that the risen, living Christ is the source of my salvation, I will be free from false religious evaluations of the things of the world

On this 13th day of the Season of Creation, what must I do with the MAGA parts of me in order to avoid the wrath of God…

Responsorial Psalm

…for if I am among the Lord’s faithful ones, should I be discoursing of the glory of MAGA clergy like Bishop Strickland, Archbishop Vigano, Mr. Frank Pavone or James Altman who teach that MAGA bans that use the violence of early term abortions are more compassionate than Wokeist laws that allow for late term abortions because multi- “weak” bans get MAGA votes from moderates and swing voters…

Alleluia

Gospel

The woes, addressed as they are to the disciples of Jesus, threaten God’s profound displeasure on those so blinded by their present fortunate situation that they do not recognize and appreciate the real values of God’s kingdom. In all the blessings and woes, the present condition of the persons addressed will be reversed in the future.

…and in the end, will I be leaping for joy that I joined with everyone in speaking well of someone to whom Pope Francis is saying, “Woe!”❓

From September 1 – October 4, the Christian family unites worldwide in prayer and action for creation during the Season of Creation. The 2023 theme is “Let Justice and Peace Flow.”

“in this Season of Creation, as followers of Christ on our shared synodal journey, we may live, work, and pray so that our common home will teem with life once again.”

Pope Francis
Pope Francis: Second Laudato si’ to be published on 4 October

When we fail to acknowledge as part of reality the worth of a poor person, a human embryo, a person with disabilities – to offer just a few examples – it becomes difficult to hear the cry of nature itself; everything is connected.

Laudato si, paragraph 117
