Tuesday of the Twenty-sixth Week in Ordinary Time|Rebuke

In your minds you must be the same as Christ Jesus:

Today’s Office First Reading Philippians 1:27-2:11

Let us keep away from the false brethren and from those who bear the name of the Lord in hypocrisy and deceive empty-minded men.

Today’s Office Second Reading From a letter of St Polycarp to the Philippians

In the fourth year and 35th day since Bishop Zurek posted on the Diocesan Website that the “few” , I included, were not among the faithful and loyal disciples at St. Mary’s Cathedral that the Lord Jesus desires; thus beginning the burning away of even my virtues

…during the 46th day of waiting for Pope Francis to accept Bishop Zurek ‘s resignation…

…and on this 33rd day of the Season of Creation, I’m asking…

…since Bishop Zurek has no rebuke for a MAGA church that is raining down fire on the Synod and aborting innocents from conception to any number of weeks for political gain; how can I keep the mind of Christ and not be an empty headed man who is deceived by those who bear the name of the LORD in hypocrisy…

Reading 1

…for who should I go with, and with whom is God with: the more than 450 Catholic clergy and laypeople who are going to the Synod to discuss how to reshape the structure of the church while overcoming divisions and polarization; or a deeply conservative MAGA church led by Cardinal Burke and Bishop Strickland, who are going no where because they say the Synod is a, “Pandora’s Box”, that will reveal, “true schismatics”…

Responsorial Psalm

…and could the cardinals who submitted five questions, called “dubia,” or doubts, requesting clarity on topics relating to doctrinal development, the blessing of same-sex unions, the authority of the Synod on Synodality, women’s ordination, and sacramental absolution, be a sign for me that God is not with Pope Francis…

Alleluia

Gospel

…or on the other hand, if Jesus, showed that he came to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many, by rebuking those who wanted to call down fire from heaven on his behalf, then shouldn’t I in return, rebuke bishops who are simultaneously raining down fire on Pope Francis for a Synod that serves the marginalized, and at peace with MAGA finding a number of weeks or months after conception that innocents can be aborted and still keep voters happy❓

From September 1 – October 4, the Christian family unites worldwide in prayer and action for creation during the Season of Crelation. The 2023 theme is “Let Justice and Peace Flow.”

“in this Season of Creation, as followers of Christ on our shared synodal journey, we may live, work, and pray so that our common home will teem with life once again.”

Pope Francis
Pope Francis: Second Laudato si’ to be published on 4 October

When we fail to acknowledge as part of reality the worth of a poor person, a human embryo, a person with disabilities – to offer just a few examples – it becomes difficult to hear the cry of nature itself; everything is connected.

Laudato si, paragraph 117
