…and work for your salvation ‘in fear and trembling.’

Today’s Office First Reading Philippians 2:12-30

Instead, we ought to be servants who are submissive to every human being for God’s sake.

Today’s Office Second Reading From a letter from St Francis of Assisi to all the faithful

In the fourth year and 36th day since Bishop Zurek posted on the Diocesan Website that the “few” , I included, were not among the faithful and loyal disciples at St. Mary’s Cathedral that the Lord Jesus desires; thus beginning the burning away of even my virtues

…during the 47th day of waiting for Pope Francis to accept Bishop Zurek ‘s resignation…

…and on the final day of the Season of Creation and the first day of Synod 2023, I’m asking…

wherever I go about today admiring the tenderness of Jesus for all the beings that accompany us along the way, isn’t everyone talking about the news that Pope Francis is open to blessings for same sex couples…

…so how should I respond:

…with fear and trembling for my salvation as Bishop Strickland warns;

…as a submissive servant to same sex couples for God’s sake as St. Francis teaches;

…or with Bishop Zurek’s silence…

Reading 1

…for upon whom is the favoring hand of my God:

…the more than 450 Catholic clergy and laypeople who are at the Synod to discuss how to reshape the structure of the church while overcoming divisions and polarization…

…a MAGA church led by Cardinal Burke and Bishop Strickland, who were not invited to the Synod since they were not open to listening to those who are opening a, “Pandora’s Box” which reveals, “true schismatics…

…a silent Bishop Zurek…

Responsorial Psalm

…but cannot I answer the question about who the LORD is with by discovering whose tongue has not been silenced by forgetting God…

Alleluia

Gospel

From September 1 – October 4, the Christian family unites worldwide in prayer and action for creation during the Season of Crelation. The 2023 theme is “Let Justice and Peace Flow.”

“in this Season of Creation, as followers of Christ on our shared synodal journey, we may live, work, and pray so that our common home will teem with life once again.”

Pope Francis
Pope Francis: Second Laudato si’ to be published on 4 October

When we fail to acknowledge as part of reality the worth of a poor person, a human embryo, a person with disabilities – to offer just a few examples – it becomes difficult to hear the cry of nature itself; everything is connected.

Laudato si, paragraph 117
