2. Eight years have passed since I published the Encyclical Letter Laudato Si’, when I wanted to share with all of you, my brothers and sisters of our suffering planet, my heartfelt concerns about the care of our common home. Yet, with the passage of time, I have realized that our responses have not been adequate, while the world in which we live is collapsing and may be nearing the breaking point. In addition to this possibility, it is indubitable that the impact of climate change will increasingly prejudice the lives and families of many persons. We will feel its effects in the areas of healthcare, sources of employment, access to resources, housing, forced migrations, etc.
APOSTOLIC EXHORTATION

OF THE HOLY FATHER
FRANCIS
TO ALL PEOPLE OF GOOD WILL
ON THE CLIMATE CRISIS
I am no longer trying for perfection by my own efforts,
Today’s Office First Reading Philippians 3:1-16
May God the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ and the eternal high priest himself, the Son of God, Jesus Christ, build you up in faith and in truth and in great gentleness.
Today’s Office Second Reading From a letter of St Polycarp to the Philippians
In the fourth year and 37th day since Bishop Zurek posted on the Diocesan Website that the “few” , I included, were not among the faithful and loyal disciples at St. Mary’s Cathedral that the Lord Jesus desires; thus beginning the burning away of even my virtues…

…during the 48th day of waiting for Pope Francis to accept Bishop Zurek ‘s resignation…
…and on the 2nd day of Synod 2023 and my reading of Laudate Deum , I’m asking…
…at hand, despite my own efforts, aren’t the effects of climate change impacting the areas of healthcare, sources of employment, access to resources, housing, forced migrations, etc…
…so how should I allow the Father and His Son to build me up in faith and in truth and in great gentleness…
Reading 1
… for haven’t I been overwhelmed with sadness over MAGA denouncing Pope Francis on climate change and the Synod…
Responsorial Psalm
…and although the precept of MAGA sacrificing innocents from conception to some number of weeks or months makes a majority of voters happy, has it not given anything but grief to my heart…

Alleluia
Gospel
…however, are not these things MAGA is doing serving as a way for the LORD to build me up in faith and truth, and let me know that the Kingdom of God is at hand…
…and knowing this, which will I find more tolerable in the end…
…repenting of Pope Francis and believing in MAGA…
…or repenting of MAGA and believing in Pope Francis❓
When we fail to acknowledge as part of reality the worth of a poor person, a human embryo, a person with disabilities – to offer just a few examples – it becomes difficult to hear the cry of nature itself; everything is connected.
Laudato si, paragraph 117
