Friday of the Twenty-sixth Week in Ordinary Time|Reject

…they are proudest of something they ought to think shameful; the things they think important are earthly things.

Today’s Office First Reading Philippians 3:17-4:9

When bad things happen to us we should not be greatly worried, because we should know that we have God close to us as our defender.

Today’s Office Second Reading Pseudo-Ambrosius on the Letter to the Philippians

In the fourth year and 38th day since Bishop Zurek posted on the Diocesan Website that the “few” , I included, were not among the faithful and loyal disciples at St. Mary’s Cathedral that the Lord Jesus desires; thus beginning the burning away of even my virtues

…during the 49th day of waiting for Pope Francis to accept Bishop Zurek ‘s resignation…

…and on the 3rd day of Synod 2023 and my reading of Laudate Deum , I’m asking…

.. rejecting Pope Francis is what MAGA wants me to do, but since MAGA also wants me to believe that their abortions are morally better than progressive abortions, isn’t rejecting Pope Francis intimately related to the dignity of human life

…but if I instead reject the shameful MAGA pride that thinks earthly things like winning an election are more important than life in the womb, won’t I, without MAGA as my defender, have to worry about bad things happening…

Reading 1

… for can it be that MAGA is the prophet sent by God, and heeding it instead of Pope Francis on climate change and the Synod is how I’m assured of my salvation…

Responsorial Psalm

…however, if for the glory of its name MAGA delivers up innocents from any number of weeks or months in order to make voters happy, how can I be sure its compassion will quickly come to me when I am brought very low

Alleluia

Gospel

When we fail to acknowledge as part of reality the worth of a poor person, a human embryo, a person with disabilities – to offer just a few examples – it becomes difficult to hear the cry of nature itself; everything is connected.

Laudato si, paragraph 117
