Monday of the Seventh Week of Easter/Optional Memorial of Our Lady of Fatima

“…but take courage, I have conquered the world.”

Today’s Gospel

While not claiming to be exhaustive, the following paragraphs draw attention to some grave violations of human dignity that are particularly relevant: The Drama of Poverty, War, The Travail of Migrants, Human Trafficking, Sexual Abuse, Violence Against Women, Abortion, Surrogacy, Euthanasia and Assisted Suicide, The Marginalization of People with Disabilities, Gender Theory, Sex Change, Digital Violence

from paragraph 35 of Declaration of the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith “Dignitas Infinita” on Human Dignity, 08.04.2024

Reducing greenhouse gases requires honesty, courage and responsibility, above all on the part of those countries which are more powerful and pollute the most.

Notice on The Door to a Confessional at the Cathedral
FYI: Confessions are Scheduled from 5:30-7pm Each Wednesday and the Sod Poodle Baseball Game Starts at 7pm
Isn’t Sacrament of Penance time sacred enough that the priests could be a bit late for the Sod Poodles❓

Am I not, as one of the baptized in the Diocese of Amarillo, an extension of Bishop Zurek; and cannot this be said more for the one who is principal of my parish’s Catholic school, even more for the principal’s priest, and greater even for a priest who is rector of the Cathedral; so should I just sing to God if my conscience tells me that Bishop Zurek, governing with clericalism, does not seek what is above, and His Excellency, by way of rectors, priests, principals and other baptized, is thinking he can have people and Sacraments canceled; and should I care if in the process a rector (Msgr. Colwell), priest (Fr. Roy), principal (Lydia O’Rear), baptized (Pat Alfaro) and Sacraments are canceled; can’t I simply believe that it is all just trouble with which I will have to put up with until Bishop Zurek’s resignation is accepted and thus let His Excellency live peacefully in his world and I in mine; or should I take my responsibility as a baptized Catholic seriously and find true peace by taking courage and believing Jesus has conquered the world ❓…

…for how can I require the worldwide Church to address the grave violations of human dignity that are particularly relevant today…

… unless I require of myself, however low on the pecking order I am, the honesty, courage and responsibility needed to challenge the venial violations of human dignity present in my local Church and the part of creation in my care, …

…because after all, doesn’t even the rooster of the flock have to be fed the truth by someone❓
