Wednesday of the Twenty-fourth Week in Ordinary Time

Has Bishop Zurek, “played the flute” or “sang a dirge” for me❓

XVI ORDINARY GENERAL ASSEMBLY

OF THE SYNOD OF BISHOPS

How to be a missionary synodal Church

Instrumentum laboris

for the Second Session (October 2024)

Part I – Relations
In Christ and in the Spirit: Christian initiation
26.

Should I “weep” that Bishop Zurek aborted daily Eucharist celebrations and confessions this week at St. Mary’s Cathedral, or “dance” because he did so for the sake of his and his assigned priests’ health and spirituality because they all played in different places at the same time by going each their separate way just to get away from from their parish❓

Should I “dance” that His Excellency played with the facts that the largest enrollment of the Catholic schools was at St. Mary’s Cathedral School, with 152 students, or “weep” since he didn’t mention that this enrollment is down 25% from last year’s❓

Should I “dance” or “weep” about how our “simple bishopplayed with our morals on abortion by trying to gain our respect by posting his reflection, Abortion: The Scriptures and Discrimination, again and again and again and again, even though it disrespects us by not forming our consciences about the proposed “abortion trafficking” ban we will be voting on in November, and has made our “small missionary dioceseground zero for the fights over abortion in the United States

Isn’t it “necessary that the pastoral proposals and liturgical practices preserve and make ever more evident the link between the journey of Christian initiation and the synodal and missionary life of the Church“; however, hasn’t the way Bishop Zurek played with his news made us want to dance when we should weep; moreover, is that a sign that he wants to feed himself rather than his sheep: the fulfilment of his bodily wants and the pleasure that comes from honor and praise; in other words, is it the “more excellent way” for our shepherd to “speak in human and angelic tongues”, when he doesn’t “have love,“❓

In having the news played in order to give sustenance and honor to himself, isn’t Bishop Zurek, “reducing this journey (we’re on) to a solely pedagogical instrument or an indicator of a mere social belonging” instead of promoting “the acceptance of this personal gift oriented towards mission and community building.“, that will take us to a place where we can proclaim, “Blessed the people the Lord has chosen to be his own“, ❓

Alleluia, alleluia,
The appropriate pastoral and liturgical arrangements must be developed in the plurality of situations and cultures in which the local Churches are immersed, also attentive to the difference between those in which Christian initiation involves mainly young people or adults and those in which it concerns mainly, if not exclusively, children.“; nonetheless, shouldn’t the way this week played out at St. Mary’s Cathedral urged me to do something about our pastor, Bishop Zurek, who from somewhere unknown, aborted the sacraments so that his rector could go walking across Spain and our parochial vicar go on retreat and, while avoiding the biggest abortion fight ever in our diocese twisted the alarming facts about our Cathedral School’s enrollment to his favor; consequently, shouldn’t I speak out, “I know that, not Bishop Zurek’s, but ‘Your words, Lord, are Spirit and life, you have the words of everlasting life‘”❓
Alleluia, alleluia
