Why does Bishop Zurek tell us that it is only “just” that we in the Diocese of Amarillo provide him with two bishop residences for his retirement so that he doesn’t have to move elsewhere when we welcome our next bishop; and at the same time, tell us it is unjust for him to tell his rector to provide us with two Masses at St. Mary’s Cathedral on days, such as tomorrow, when there is a funeral, so that we don’t have to go elsewhere to welcome the Eucharistic Jesus❓

Is the funeral tomorrow not “a just cause” for allowing a priest to celebrate twice a day❓
Why would Bishop Zurek assume that our next bishop wants to live here❓
“The ministry of priests should also be conceived and lived in a synodal sense“; however, are priests part of a “synodal Church…a Church ‘going forth,’ a missionary Church “whose doors are open” when Bishop Zurek keeps us in our place by having the rector close the doors for Eucharistic celebrations for the sake of his health and spirituality; likewise, is it traveling on, “this path of synodality which God expects of the Church”, when Bishop Zurek secures his place in the Church by building a new bishop’s residence without having any “consultation of the People”, including and especially our next bishop; indeed, has he not already told our next bishop that his place in the Church will be next door to himself, among the ruins of Bishop Matthiesen’s Episcopacy, and alienated, as he himself is, from St. Mary’s Cathedral, in order that he, as Bishop Emeritus, can exert control over the new bishop’s episcopacy just as Bishop Matthiesen did during Bishop Yanta’s Episcopacy; consequently, is not the place where Bishop Zurek feels welcome so very different from the place that St. Thérèse of the Child Jesus wrote about in today’s office ❓

CD 11).“; subsequently, how much consultation did Bishop Zurek welcome from his presbyterium prior to building our next bishop’s residence; nevertheless, why did he assume that our new bishop would want to be, ” With kings and counselors of the earth

“This requires that we do not consider the bishop as external to the presbyterate but as the one who presides over a local Church, first of all presiding over its presbyterate, of which he is a part with a particular singularity, being called to exercise special care towards priests‘”; however, did not Bishop Zurek welcome little or no care in making a decision that will effect his priests’ relationship with their next bishop; moreover, does not his having already built both offices and residences among the ruins of a diocese from the past, not emphasized, “the privilege of an exclusive position of power and separation”, away from his Cathedral; therefore, is not the tone persistently grim as we at St. Mary’s Cathedral cry out, “Let my prayer come before you, Lord.“❓

In addition, if Bishop Zurek’s building of a residence for the new bishop was such a good thing for the Diocese of Amarillo, why then was it left up to someone who is as unwelcome as me to announce it; instead, is this not a sign that this is a self-serving project not based on a belief that, “The Son of Man came to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many“❓

…”‘We priests are not the bosses of the laity, but their pastors,’ he said in a video message for his October prayer intention: ‘For a shared mission”;…
…so, I welcomed Pope Francis’s words and prayer intentions, “For a shared mission”; but as I prepared for his reception here, and since the destination of my journey was “this path of synodality”, I had to first pass through the diocesan ruins of Bishop Zurek and Bishop Matthiesen’s Episcopacies; hence, when I discovered the new bishop’s residence there, was I not overcome with an anger that wanted to “call down fire from heaven to consume them“, since it appeared to me that the Holy Spirit had preceded me…
