Doesn’t Bishop Zurek despise his own Cathedral❓
- He only celebrates Mass there when it is required.
- He has maintained and built his residence and chancery offices miles away from his Cathedral and walking distance from the former Cathedral.
- He is assuring that our next bishop will equally despise our Cathedral by building a new bishop’s house next to the current one in which Bishop Zurek lives, and hopes to reign from as Bishop Emeritus.
Let Us Pray:
Angel of God, our new bishop’s guardian dear, To whom God’s love commits him here in the Diocese of Amarillo, Ever this day, be at his side, To light his way to St. Mary’s Cathedral and guard him from Bishop Zurek, Rule him by having him “Just Say No” to living in the new bishop’s residence and guide him to show Bishop Zurek how to love the Cathedral that was once his. Amen.

Why would Bishop Zurek assume that our next bishop wants to live here❓
“Bishops and priests are assisted by deacons in a bond of mutual interdependence of the two types of ministry for the implementation of the apostolic service. Bishops and presbyters are not self-sufficient with respect to deacons and vice versa.“; however, did not Bishop Zurek show his self-sufficiency from “the two types of ministry” in building a new bishop’s house without consultation on “this path of synodality which God expects of the Church”; nevertheless, despite Bishop Zurek’s despise for synodality, can we not pray to our Guardian Angels with hope based on what is written in today’s office❓
They who keep us in all our ways cannot be overpowered or led astray, much less lead us astray.

“Since the functions of deacons are many – as tradition, liturgical prayer and post-Vatican II praxis show – they must be related to the particularity and specificity of each individual local Church.“; likewise, should not where a bishop spends his time be “related” to where the “local Church” Cathedra is; but since Bishop Zurek spends most of his time around our former Cathedral, isn’t that a sign that he despises the fact he moved the Cathedra to St. Mary’s, ” but how can a man be justified before God❓
“The service of each deacon must, in any case, be conceived in harmony and communion with that of all other deacons, in accordance with the nature of the diaconal ministry and within the framework of mission in a synodal Church‘”; accordingly, when the “framework” of the new bishop’s residence which Bishop Zurek built does not seem to be “within the framework of mission in a synodal Church”, is it not the time, that I despise what Bishop Zurek has done and along with my Guardian Angel, lament saying, “Let my prayer come before you, Lord.“❓

Therefore, because the Guardian Angel prayer is a way to remember that God’s love is personal and complete, and that our next bishop is made in the image of God, not a despising Bishop Zurek, can we not proclaim, “Bless the LORD, all you angels, you ministers, who do his will“❓

…so, wouldn’t the best way we in the Diocese of Amarillo can show Bishop Zurek that we “despise” his “despise” of “advancing the mission of the church through collaboration” with those he considers as “little ones”, be to pray that our next bishop, especially in regards to the building of a new bishop’s residence, is able to, “Just Say No“; indeed, would that not be a clear sign to Bishop Zurek that the Diocese of Amarillo has made a commitment to,…
