Saturday of the Twenty-ninth Week in Ordinary Time

Defrocked priest and convicted pedophile John Salazar raised this memorial in honor of Bishop Matthiesen, who, after Salazar was convicted of abusing youth in our diocese, stated, “I was never sorry that I went against the Diocese of Los Angeles’ warnings not to hire Salazar!”

Bishop Zurek, for his part, called what Matthiesen did a ‘serious mistake,’ yet the memorial still remains.”
Bishop Zurek states that Canon 905.1 allows a priest to celebrate only one Mass per day; however, does Canon 905.2 not specify that, in cases of a shortage of priests, a priest may be permitted to celebrate a second Mass during the week for a just cause❓ Is a funeral not a just cause❓

In what ways has God “spoken to” me during “this year” of waiting for Bishop Zurek’s resignation to be accepted❓

Furthermore, do I think Bishop Zurek is “more guilty
than” I am regarding:

…A memorial erected by a convicted pedophile priest for a bishop whom Bishop Zurek acknowledges made a “serious mistake,” yet has not removed;

…A letter on the diocesan website, which Bishop Zurek still hasn’t retracted, denouncing ‘a few’ who reported abuse at St. Mary’s Cathedral, as directed by their “Safe Environment Training“;

…The cancellation of daily Masses at St. Mary’s Cathedral during a National Eucharistic Revival year on days when only one priest is available due to a funeral Mass;

…And a house built by Bishop Zurek without consulting the “people of God,” which effectively puts our new bishop “in his place” before he even arrives❓

Part II – Pathways
Ecclesial discernment for mission
61.

The starting point of all ecclesial discernment is listening to the Word of God.” Hasn’t God, then, given me an additional “year” with Bishop Zurek in the same way that “Grace was given to each of us according to the measure of Christ’s gift“❓

Sacred Scripture constitutes the witness par excellence of God’s communication with humanity. They testify that God has spoken to his People and continues to do so, and they present the different channels through which this communication occurs.” Accordingly, have I been open this past “year” to being a channel for God’s communication, helping lead St. Mary’s Cathedral to proclaim, “Let us go rejoicing to the house of the Lord.“❓

Alleluia, alleluia,
God speaks through personal meditation on Scripture, which resonates in the hearts of those who pray with it. God speaks to the community in the liturgy, the pre-eminent place of interpreting what the Lord says to his Church. God speaks through the Church, both Mother and Teacher, through its living Tradition and practices, including those of popular piety. God continues to speak through the events in space and time, provided we know how to discern their meaning. Moreover, God communicates with his People through the natural world, whose very existence points us to the Creator’s handiwork, filled with the presence of the Holy Spirit, who gives life. Finally, God speaks in each person’s own conscience, which “is the most intimate centre and sanctuary of a person, in which he or she is alone with God whose voice echoes within them” (GS 16). An authentic discernment cannot neglect any of these channels of divine communication.

Should there be another “year” of dealing with the “serious mistake” memorial, the letter, canceled Eucharists, and the house built by Zurek, shouldn’t I remember that authentic discernment cannot overlook any channel of divine communication, especially since God has already said, “I take no pleasure in the death of the wicked man, says the Lord, but rather in his conversion that he may live.“❓
Alleluia, alleluia

Jaymes Young – Happiest “year” [Official Music Video]
October is not just “Safe Environment Month”; it is also the month of the Synod. But can we truly have a “Safe Environment” without a shared mission”❓

Finally, since each “year” I generate an untold number of sins—against peace, the environment, the dignity of women, the poor; sins of abuse and using doctrine as a ‘stone to hurl’ at others; and sins against synodality—doesn’t my conscience compel me to repent by praying and advocating for our new bishop to “Just Say NO❣️” to being “put in his place” even before he arrives, by Bishop Zurek’s “sins against synodality” so that perhaps next year I won’t have to pray,

…’Sir, leave it for this year also,…’“❓

 Each “year” hundreds of millions of tons of waste are generated, much of it non-biodegradable, highly toxic and radioactive, from homes and businesses, from construction and demolition sites, from clinical, electronic and industrial sources.
