Is it “grace” or a curse that “The service to unity of the Bishop of Rome” to which I’m called stems from how I am “#troubled” by the following places within the Diocese of Amarillo:
- a memorial erected by a convicted pedophile priest in honor of a bishop who made the “serious mistake” of granting that priest “a second chance,” a decision that ultimately led to the destruction of the innocence of youth;
- a letter on the diocesan website letter rebuking “a few” who reported abuse at St. Mary’s Cathedral, casting them aside instead of pursuing justice, healing and reconciliation;
- the abortion of daily Masses at St. Mary’s Cathedral under the guise of fostering “an incredible sense of Reverence for the…Priests and especially for the Bishops“, effectively weaponizing the Eucharist as a tool of power and control;
- and the construction of a second bishop’s residence, symbolically reinforcing hierarchical dominance and seemingly designed to “put our next bishop in his place” before his arrival—
…so, even though I’m “afraid“, does that mean I should not speak out about these matters as courageously as Mary was when she said, “May it be done to me according to your word,” in today’s Gospel, Luke 1: 26-38❓

Bishop Zurek, for his part, called what Matthiesen did a ‘serious mistake, but approved the raising of , and allows’ the memorial to remain.”
Since, “Among the most significant fruits of the 2021-2024 Synod is the intensity of the ecumenical impulse and the promise that marks it.—shouldn’t I desire that a memorial erected by convicted pedophile priest in honor of a bishop who made the “serious mistake” of granting him “a second chance“—a decision that ultimately led to the destruction of innocence—also be subjected to this ecumenical impulse, so that when I am “troubled” I don’t have to respond by saying, “I was afraid,…so I hid myself.”“❓

Therefore, because “It may also be useful to address the question of the exercise of the Petrine ministry in this light, opening it up “to a new situation” (UUS 95), shouldn’t the concerns of “a few” who reported clergy abuse at St. Mary’s Cathedral, —rather than being dismissed as less than “faithful and loyal disciples that the Lord Jesus desires” —also have been opened “up to a new situation” so that “the few” who were “troubled” could “Sing to the Lord a new song, for he has done marvelous deeds“❓
Nevertheless, The recent document The Bishop of Rome: Primacy and Synodality in Ecumenical Dialogues and Responses to the Encyclical Ut Unum Sint, issued by the Dicastery for the Promotion of Christian Unity, offers insights for further study.” so that those of us who are “troubled” “might exist for the praise of his glory“❓

Alleluia, alleluia, “This theme is part of the work of Study Group 10, which is dedicated to the reception of the fruits of the ecumenical journey in ecclesial practices; accordingly, if I’m “troubled” by “ecclesial practices” that lead to decisions such as the aborting of the daily Eucharist at St. Mary’s Cathedral—for the sake of the priests’ health and spirituality—do I not have recourse not only to Study Group 10, but also to our Mother by praying, “Hail, Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with you; blessed are you among women.“❓
Alleluia, alleluia

Finally, can I genuinely teach the importance of concern for other vulnerable beings, however “troubled” or inconvenienced I may be, if I fail to protect a human embryo, as Mary did, even when its presence is uncomfortable and creates difficulties in places that do not seem to be in “The service to unity of the Bishop of Rome” because of “sins against synodality“—the very sins that now place our new bishop in a position where he must “Just Say NO❣️” to being “put in his place,” mirroring Mary’s courage in ultimately saying “yes” to God’s call, even though…
“…she was greatly troubled at what was said……'”❓

How can we genuinely teach the importance of concern for other vulnerable beings, however troublesome or inconvenient they may be, if we fail to protect a human embryo, even when its presence is uncomfortable and creates difficulties❓
