How does the Most Holy Name of Jesus inspire me, as I reflect on the Spirit “coming down and” remaining in today’s readings, to stay attentive to the future—broadening my perspective beyond present comforts and concerns, much like Livestock Guardian Dogs “remain alert” through the night❓ Can I, like the seminarian on CAPN: The WTC: The Podcast, Episode 000, remain open to unexpected ways God might work in my life, while also considering how my actions impact those excluded from development, knowing that “those who praise the rain have received it”❓
Gospel
John the Baptist saw Jesus coming toward him and said,
“Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world.
He is the one of whom I said,
‘A man is coming after me who ranks ahead of me
because he existed before me.’
I did not know him,
but the reason why I came baptizing with water
was that he might be made known to Israel.”
John testified further, saying,
“I saw the Spirit come down like a dove from the sky
and remain upon him.
I did not know him,
but the one who sent me to baptize with water told me,
‘On whomever you see the Spirit come down and remain,
he is the one who will baptize with the Holy Spirit.’
Now I have seen and testified that he is the Son of God.”
Reflection
In the quiet of the Most Holy Name of Jesus, I consider how I remain a part of God’s creation and purpose. The Spirit’s presence, “coming down and” remaining, speaks to the constancy of God’s love—a love that invites me to stay rooted in faith, even when life seems uncertain. Just as the Spirit stayed with Jesus, I pray that I, too, may remain steadfast in my walk with Christ, embracing His name and living in His truth.
The guardianship of the Livestock Guardian Dogs inspires me to reflect on my own vigilance. They remain alert through the night, faithfully protecting what has been entrusted to them. In their steadfastness, I see a reflection of how I am called to remain watchful over the gifts and responsibilities given to me by God. Am I as diligent in guarding my spiritual life and ensuring that my actions reflect care for others and the world around me❓
The seminarian on CAPN: The WTC: The Podcast shares his hope to remain open to God’s unexpected plans. This openness challenges me to think about how I can remain receptive to the Spirit’s guidance, even when it disrupts my expectations. Do I trust enough in God’s providence to remain available for His work, even when it requires patience and change❓

Our shared world calls us to remain mindful of those excluded from development and progress. On Care for Our Common Home reminds me that neglecting the needs of others leads to division and harm. To remain true to the Spirit’s call, I must expand my focus to include future generations, seeking justice and stewardship that reflects the love of Christ.
Am I prepared to live in such a way that I remain open to the Spirit’s transformative presence, as I ponder the words:
Furthermore, our inability to think seriously about future generations is linked to our inability to broaden the scope of our present interests and to give consideration to those who remain excluded from development.
