Is Bishop Zurek a, “blind guide” when, at the same time as he traverses “sea and land to make one convert,” to the Catholic teaching that the absolute evil of abortion is both anti-scriptural and a form of discrimination to the unborn, His Excellency is also promoting the anti-scriptural and discriminatory practice of spiritual abortion of the born by having Sacraments, people and mission canceled at his own Cathedral❓

The shared meaning of synodality

Even though Bishop Zurek says he is not, “some great scholar or theologian”, when he wrote the reflection, “Abortion: The Scriptures and Discrimination“, it seems to me that Bishop Zurek is, “blind” to the teaching that, “Synodality ‘ought to be expressed in the Church’s ordinary way of living and working‘”; although, “Ever since Roe vs Wade was rendered unconstitutional by the Supreme Court the decision to continue to allow abortion or to forbid it was mandated to the individual States to make that determination“, but has this, “obviously reopened the question of whether or not to make (abortion) legal or not. Is it moral or not❓“, Where Bishop Zurek, a “simple bishop in a small missionary diocese” serves   I think not. In fact, hasn’t this “small missionary diocese”, “become something of a ground zero for fights over abortion” ❓ If not, why is the city for whom this “small missionary diocese” is named voting in November on an abortion travel ban instead of an abortion rights law like many in places in the country are ❓ Why was it it that the Supreme Court heard a case, ” In late 2022, that a coalition of anti-abortion doctors and activists filed over abortion pills in a federal court located in Amarillo“, where the cathedral of our, “small missionary diocese” is located❓ Yet, why does Bishop Zurek feel the need to open up both his Bible and dictionary to teach us about the legality and morality of abortion❓ Is it because he is “blind” to what those books have to say about, “This modus vivendi et operandi (which) works through the community listening to the Word and celebrating the Eucharist, the brotherhood [and sisterhood] of communion and the co-responsibility and participation of the whole People of God in its life and mission, on all levels and distinguishing between various ministries and roles” ❓ “The term (Synodality) then indicates the ecclesial structures and processes in which the synodal nature of the Church is expressed at the institutional level, and finally designates those particular events in which the Church is convoked by the competent authority“, who in our case wants to, begin (his) inquiry (as he has often done in the past, not with the Catechism of the Catholic Church, but) with the Dictionary of the American Language into what he says, “may seem an odd question: “In the secular sense, can the actual abortion of an embryo or fetus be considered an act of discrimination❓””, (And for “a simple bishop” who is preaching to this, “small (anti-abortion) missionary diocese” instead of the Democratic Convention, it is an odd question.); indeed, “In describing the Church, the notion of synodality is not an alternative to that of communion“, but to Bishop Zurek, isn’t the Dictionary of the American Language one❓ “In fact, in the context of the ecclesiology of the People of God illustrated by the Second Vatican Council, the concept of communion expresses the profound substance of the mystery and mission of the Church, which has its source and culmination in the celebration of the Eucharist, that is, in communion with the Triune God and the unity among human persons that is realized in Christ through the Holy Spirit.” ; however, in Bishop Zurek’s case, is the discrimination against the unborn embryo or fetus not one against communion for he writes, “These unborn children are unfairly doomed to death only because they are ‘unborn,’ and obviously not wanted! Some even want to call a premediated killing of a one-year-old…an abortion! What a crime against language!!!  “❓ “In that same context, Synodality “is the specific modus vivendi et operandi of the Church, the People of God, which reveals and gives substance to her being as communion when all her members journey together, gather in assembly and take an active part in her evangelizing mission“; nevertheless, Bishop Zurek is blind to, “How ironic! How unjust is this Discrimination (of his)! Especially for a culture that loathes discrimination (by abortion)! How two-faced can a culture (imbued with clericalism) be! For the way a Bishop who says, ““I, as a lay person, do not always have all the knowledge”; while it is quite probable that the deacon, priest or bishop has a much fuller picture of what is actually happening “, tells his faithful Catholics that the, “The question, “How did we get to this one accepted discrimination (of abortion)!!!”, is , “Our own languages (not communion) condemn us!“❓
