Memorial of Saint Peter Claver, Priest

Will my conscience ever be informed by Bishop Zurek about whether or not the proposed “abortion trafficking” ordinance in the Diocese of Amarillo is intended, “to do good“, as the rogue Bishop Strickland tells me, or, “to do evil“, as the Amarillo City Council believes

Call to conversion and reform
Bishop Zurek recently wrote a reflection on Abortion but said nothing” about the proposed “abortion trafficking” ban that has put our Diocese of Amarillo, “at the forefront of the abortion wars.

Jesus began his public ministry with a call to conversion (cf. Mk 1:15)” but at this time in the Diocese of Amarillo is it not difficult to hear from which direction that call is coming in regards to the proposed “abortion travel ban”; accordingly, is it not for times such as this that we’ve been assigned a bishop to whom we can say, “May it please you to hear our request! Intercede with the Lord your God for all…so that the Lord your God may show us the way we are to go and what we must do“❓

Isn’t both Bishop Strickland and the Amarillo City Council both calling for a conversion; indeed, “This call represents an invitation to rethink personal and communal ways of living and to let oneself be transformed by the Spirit“, as St. Peter Claver was when he, “became ‘the slave of the Negroes forever’, laboring on their behalf for 43 years, attending to both their spiritual and material needs“, by speaking, “to them, not with words but with…hands and…actions“; however, what such “speaking” have we’ve heard from Bishop Zurek❓

No reform could be limited to structures alone but must be rooted in an inner transformation according to the “mind of Christ” (Phil 2:5)“; subsequently, shouldn’t Bishop Zurek be enlightening us to what the “mind of Christ” is in regards to the “abortion trafficking” ordinance knowing that, “a little yeast leavens all the dough“❓

For a synodal Church, the first conversion is to listening, the rediscovery of which has been one of the greatest fruits of the journey to date“; consequently, in order to, “Lead me in your justice, Lord“, haven’t I listened to Bishop Strickland and the Amarillo City Council, but how can I listen to the one that matters most, Bishop Zurek, unless he speaks❓

So,  Alleluia, alleluia,
My sheep hear my voice, says the Lord;
I know them, and they follow me
“,
Alleluia, alleluia; still, isn’t, “This… first of all, listening to the Holy Spirit, the real protagonist of the Synod, and then listening to each other as a fundamental disposition for mission“❓

Both the natural and social environment have been gravely damaged and, “Both are ultimately due to the same evil: the notion that there are no indisputable truths to guide our lives, and hence human freedom is limitless“; therefore, what good can come out of exposing anyone, “who “aids or abets an elective abortion if the abortion is performed on a resident of Amarillo” regardless of where the abortion occurs”, if we aren’t willing to do the same to those whose damage “aids or abets” the Diocese of Amarillo in some way; moreover, isn’t that why, “”I ask you,” Bishop Zurek, is the proposed “abortion trafficking” ordinance in our Diocese of Amarillo, “lawful to do good…rather than to do evil”❓

So, should the people of the Diocese of Amarillo look to Jesus in prayer and bring to him a deaf bishop who has “a speech impediment”
and beg him “to lay his hand on him
“; or should we turn to a bishop who hears our cries and is not mute about our proposed “abortion trafficking” ordinance, but has also openly accused Pope Francis of having a “program of undermining the Deposit of Faith“❓
