Will I allow Bishop Zurek to blindly lead both of us, ” into a pit” of:
- aborting the Eucharist and confessions for the sake of a priest’s health and spirituality, and a parish’s social well being;…
- terminating long term lay employees for no justifiable reason;…
- banning travel on the “path of synodality” by removing from ministry anyone who tries “to deal with the weight of a culture imbued with clericalism”;…
…instead, shouldn’t I, “weave relationships in solidarity,” by urging Bishop Zurek to first use Scriptures to help us, as Pope Francis does, to “perceive the wooden beam” of discrimination in our eye of “‘a sickness’ that leads to ‘living authority in the various forms of power, without being aware of duplicity, without humility but with detached and haughty attitudes‘”; then, will we not, “see clearly
to remove the”, discrimination inherent in those who claim, “the Holy Scriptures say nothing about abortion“❓

“As it exists in service to mission, synodality should not be thought of as an organizational expedient but lived and cultivated as the way the disciples of Jesus weave relationships in solidarity, capable of corresponding to the divine love that continually reaches them and that they are called to bear witness to in the concrete contexts in which they live“; nonetheless, here in the Diocese of Amarillo I am asking if Bishop Zurek can perceive that he cannot, “weave relationships in solidarity“, if he preaches “the Gospel”, with the “reason for me to boast,” about his anti-abortion stand❓
“Understanding how to be a synodal Church in mission thus passes through a relational conversion, which reorients the priorities and the action of each person, especially of those whose task it is to animate relationships in the service of unity, in the concreteness of an exchange of gifts that liberates and enriches all“; subsequently, how can Bishop Zurek convince others to perceive that, abortion is anti-Scriptural if he first doesn’t lead us in a “relational conversion” that leads us to, “Understanding how to be a synodal Church in mission” and thus proclaiming, “How lovely is your dwelling place, Lord, mighty God!“❓
